The Lawrence Foundation is a private family foundation that helps support environmental, human service and other causes. They fund both program and operating grants.
The Lawrence Foundation has no geographic restrictions and a relatively broad scope including:
- Environment (US headquartered organizations operating programs in the US or elsewhere in the world),
- Human Services
- Disaster relief (US headquartered organizations responding to disasters in the US or elsewhere in the world on an occasional basis),
- Other (US headquartered organizations operating programs in the US or elsewhere in the world).
However, because they receive so many applications (over 1,000 per year), they are only able to fund some 5-10% of the requests. With a pool of $4 million in assets, they can flexibly fund programs.
You can get an idea of the programs they may be interested in funding by seeing the grants they’ve funded in the past on the Common Grant Application platform here. Grants can be sorted by funding status.
Grants are awarded twice a year with funding in June and December. The grant application process is fairly simple and is initiated by submitting a grant application using the Common Grant Application. The deadlines are by midnight (23:59:59) Central Time (CT) on either April 30 or October 31.
See their application process here.
